| Started in 1991 as Lisa and Company, I did the local craft fairs and festivals to follow my passion of providing quality handcrafted items at fair prices. In January 1995 I met my husband Tom, and we both did craft shows and made our items by hand. Tom continued to finish his degree in Radiation Therapy until May 1996. While seeking employment in his chosen field, we continued to diligently grow our craft business.
In October 1996 while setting up for a local 10 day festival, our young son Tyler overheard us referring to each other as "Honey". for the remainder of the day, Tyler continued to call both of us "Honey". When the other vendors overheard Tyler calling me "Honey" the other vendors also called me "Honey" for the rest of the show. So that day we changed the name of the company to Honey and Me, and made it official in December 1996. We continued over the next year to add to our show schedule until we were doing more than 40 shows in 1997. Later in the year we signed up for our first wholesale show, the Beckman's show in July 1998, and we continued to do quite well throughout 1998. By 1999 we decided to import my original designs from China. We worked out of our pole barn for a short time and quickly outgrew that. We then moved into a 10,000 square foot warehouse and found it to be too small also. In 2004, we built our 48,000 square foot warehouse in Mooresville, Indiana. Thankfully we had the foresight to purchase 10 acres of land to expand. Needless to say, we needed it in the Spring of 2005 when we expanded to 72,000 square feet. We are currently expanding again. |
